Why is Kendal Torchlight important?

This year will be Kendal’s 54th Torchlight Procession!  Many of us who have lived and worked in Kendal for a long time with have fond memories of “torchlight night” and may even have taken part in it ourselves.

But it has faced many challenges particularly in recent years and has had to change and adapt.

Amongst other things it:

  • Drives economic growth
  • Attracts visitors
  • Gets people together
  • Gives community engagement
  • Provides creative opportunities and experiences
  • Gives Kendal a significant cultural event

So we are pleased to be able to support Kendal Torchlight in 2024 as a general sponsor.

This year looks to be a very colourful and exciting event – with the theme of “The  Elements”.  All those involved in making the costumes and lanterns should be very pleased with what they have created.

The Torchlight Street Festival will take place on Saturday 28 September in the town centre between 10 am and 4 pm with the Procession itself starting from Abbot Hall at 7pm.
